Happy Birthday, Well Made Health, LLC!

About a year ago, I sat in a coffee shop with my new business attorney, Venus Liles. We went over the process of starting an LLC while my newborn napped in the car seat next to me. I had my first client all lined up in a perfect twist of fate. I was feeling bold and optimistic.

We all know what came next. In Harry Potter terms, it would be “the pandemic that shall not be named.” I was launching my company with a 2 year old and a baby also demanding my attention while we were in lockdown. Work happened during naps, after bedtime, and during showings of the Magic School Bus.

Growing up, my parents would call me “Pumps and Pearls” because I always dreamed of being a professional businesswoman, reading the NYTimes and drinking Starbucks, looking fabulous and in charge. Now I was in charge of my own company, and mostly I was wearing jeans and nursing tank tops.

Despite all of the ways that the last year unfolded in a completely unexpected way, I continually feel gratitude for a few things.

  • I was able to start Well Made Health on my own terms. There are endless articles out there stating how the pandemic has forced women to leave the workforce. It had been a dream of mine for a while to have a more flexible work-life balance (among other things) but it took me a long time to get up the chutzpa to do it. I’m deeply thankful I didn’t have to make that decision overnight.

  • I’ve had consistent client work from day one.

  • Everyone in my family has stayed healthy.

  • I had the chance to get to know my kids in a way I wouldn’t have during ‘normal’ life.

With vaccinations rolling out like wildfire, my eldest is starting pre-school next month. My bandwidth is going to increase and I’m thrilled that I’ll have more time available to work with amazing people like YOU. Take a look at my fresh-off-the-press client stories. I had a blast working with Dock Health and pumpspotting

Finally, Happy Birthday, Well Made Health, LLC. I’m proud to call you my own.
